Yesterday The German war resisters organization Connection e.V. and Military Counseling Network noted in a press release, US army medic Agustín Aguayo has to spent eight months in prison for refusing to participate any further in the illegal and immoral war of the US government against the population of the Iraq.

The bad part of the news is, that Agustín Aguayo was convicted by an american military court in Germany for not taking part in a crime. The good part of the news is, that Agustín Aguayo will be probably released in about 40 days, because he has already been imprisoned for 167 days now.

The case of Agustín Aguayo got news coverage in first German television and was well noted by bloggers in the USA, but didn’t get the level of US media coverage like Lt. Ehren Watada.

But there is hope to get US media telling the truth about the war in Iraq, so that in the future US people don’t have to go to Cuba to get news on topics like Agustín Aguayo anymore. MediaChannel started a campaign to demand better Iraq war coverage from US media. Let’s hope the US media will start soon to tell the US people what really happens down in Iraq.

And there is more hope to get the war propaganda stopped. Wayne Madson encountered Jürgen Cain Külbel’s book “Mordakte Hariri” and published the doubts, that the assacination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri might not have been carried out by Syria but by neo-con elements hoping to start civil war in Lebanon. Furthermore Wayne Madson brought attention from the US public to the fact, that Jürgen Cain Külbel has caught a German pro-Bush/Cheney/Likud network in blogs and mainstream media in coordinated smear campaigns against people with other opinions.

While in the US the peace movement has already grown to notable sizes and now campaigns for more truth in media coverage are rolled out, in Germany peace campaigns are started to be rolled out. So in Germany just started a campaign Truppenabzug Jetzt (Troups Out Now) to demand the withdrawing of all German troops from all US wars in the Middle East and Afganistan and to forbid the US army to use German territory for backing their war forces.
