In January Bavarian conservative politician Gabriele Pauli tackled Bavarian’s chief of government Edmund Stoiber for trying to obtain “information about lovers and alcohol consumption” and successfully forced him not to candidate for re-election in 2008. This way up she became by far the most prominent female politician of Bavarian conservative party CSU. Now her faith has changed and she is in the news for a “panty-affair”.
Ms Gabriele Pauli, who holds a PhD in political communication, has posed in a red wig and latex gloves for a third class German fashion journal named “Park Avenue”. The photos were nothing special, but Park Avenue made from it a prostitute like report, stating for one photo she let her panty, which disturbed the tight look of a dress, discreetely disappair in her hand bag. The conservative press, which was hungry to find Gabriele Pauli making a mistake already since January, wrote a lot about it as domina photos.
Of course it’s not nice to be fooled by fashion journalists in such a way. Now the story could have been finished with that, but Gabriele Pauli, who is trying to get a job as a Minister in next Bavarian government, started to attack the journal. So she wrote an open letter to the journals manager, where she told, that regarding to the panty, she wants to line out, that she asked all people to leave the room before she undressed her panty. The editor in chief of that third class fashion journal, Andreas Petzold, who is in his main profession editor in chief for Germany’s most popular journal “Stern”, defended the scoop and answered her, that there was none of her rights infringed and that she has a strange opinion on the work of the press.
Really ridiculous the story became now, when Gabriele Pauli told the public in her blog, that she is going to sue the journal and some other magazines publishing the photos for an infringement of her personality rights, claiming the report with her photos was not written to let her appear in a positive light.
Gabriele, here is a word from a cat. That story was brainless. First getting your conservative voters offended with awkward photos and then making yourself ridiculous in front of progressive voters with a public letter regarding to the panty and a lawsuit against the journal sounds like a hysterical selfish girl, who seeks to sue her barber after getting a modern haircut. Better go out and tell the public that you made a mistake allowing that journalists fool you and that’s it.

Suing the journal does seem like an incredibly stupid move. What gives?
I think she should tell the public not to be so damn afraid of sex! Why should something as innocuous as suggestive photos be enough to offend voters?
I don’t think framing her as a “hysterical selfish girl” helps at all, it just plays into stereotypes, doesn’t it? To launch the lawsuit is to be clueless and ruthless, just like any other unskilled politician.
Who gives a damn about a politicians’ looks, female or not.
I only care about what she votes for and what ideas she brings into the political process, but due to this media blitz about her I don’t know anythng other then she brought down Stoiber and made some pictures. Swell.
@Dan
I liked Gabriele Pauli a lot, it looked really professional and clever like she played her game against Edmund Stoiber. Though for me the photos are totally OK, I’ld ack that for a member of the conservative party they were not really clever PR.
I doubt she understands, what effect the lawsuit will have in the end. The conservatives are trying for some months now to draw an image of her as a “hysterical selfish girl”. By suing the journals she feeds them to say this for months.
DaRock, I agree.
A Cat, I see, so purely in terms of strategy, she made a bad move as the conservatives were gunning for her. Although I think if she stood by the photos and went on the offensive she might have done better than simply avoiding the photos at all (and certainly better than suing as she is now!).
It is very curious that she would engage in the lawsuit, one would think the political ramifications would have been obvious.
She is sooooooo beautiful!!!!
i love her!! i dont know anything about her but you go girl !! i want to know more about this CSU please send me information sites i need more knowledge. Gabriele you are not only smart but beautiful!!
Gabriele is intelligent, charming and witty, and her politics are refreshing in what has become a stagnant arena these past two decades. Personally, I would love to seek out her company, even if it was only for seven years! :o)
Ich wünsche, wir hätten so eine tolle, schöne und provakative Frau wie Gabriele Pauli in der britischen Politik.
