Looking for Jimmy Carter

by @ 3:49 pm. filed under Bush, war, USA, Censorship

In the arab region some fiber optic internet cables were somehow magically destroyed. No wonder that human beings not believing into magic start looking for Jimmy Carter in these days. No, I’m not speaking about the former president Jimmy Carter, but about the submarine USS Jimmy Carter SSN 23. Here is what Jimmy Carter looks like:

Wikileaks is a fine thing

by @ 3:21 am. filed under Wikileaks, Whistleblowing, Censorship

Almost a year ago some humans announced that they’ve got tons of secret documents they are going to put in a public uncensorable wiki named Wikileaks. Now Wikileaks is online for already a couple of months. There are not tons of documents online yet, but, as a cat, I agree, what’s inside the Wikileaks wiki doesn’t look that bad. Have a look for yourself into Wikileaks.

DirectBuy to learn about the Streisand effect

by @ 4:24 pm. filed under USA, Copyright, Censorship

From Donald Morris from Dozier Internet Law in Virginia humans can learn a bit about freedom of speech in the USA in theory and practice. Donald Morris is a typical lawyer, whose firm is already well known for even prohibiting website visitors to view the html of the page and put for his client DirectBuy all his best together to threaten Justin Leonard from infomercialscam.com to bring out all the critical information about DirectBuy from people feeling fooled. Probably Donald Morris is a good lawyer and so he knows very well, that his ideas of free speech is not the same like it is written in the first amendment of the constituion of the USA.

So the idea of Donald Morris to forbid publishing his cease and desist letter with copyright arguments is easy to understand. This might bring up the question whether blackmail can be copyrighted and publishing of blackmail can be made illegal by the blackmailer in this way. Of course, for his funny letter, Donald Morris was to receive a catty answer (pdf).

The end of the lawyers work: the internet community in the whole world is reading his funny letter (pdf) and laughing about the scams of DirectBuy and their lawyer. As a cat I say thank you to Donald Morris and his clients from DirectBuy for this fine demonstration of the Streisand effect and recommend them to send more letters for further prove of the Streisand effect which is the best guarantee to the first amendment.

Bloggers darling José Sócrates

by @ 4:15 pm. filed under Europe, Portugal, Censorship, Freedom of Speech

Who thinks, a big one in politics like the Prime Minister of Portugal, leader of the portuguese Socialist Party and current President of the European Council, José Sócrates, would be just as indifferent as like other world leaders about the blogsphere, is definitely false. José Sócrates talked about the blogsphere even on portuguese TV (sorry, only in portuguese, no English transscript or subtitles so far):

Howdy, what’s going on there in Portugal? Just a few days before he took over the presidency of the European Council, José Sócrates has filed a defamation complaint against the portuguese blogger Professor António Balbino Caldeira, who is publicly asking questions about the Prime Ministers 1996 licentiate degree in civil engineering from “Universidade Independente” since the year 2005.

This smells pretty much like misusing a prosecution office for censorship. There is even a petition related to this topic. As José Sócrates is the current president of the European Council, the German Parteibuch blogger asked the Spokeswoman of the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the EU, Clara Borja, for explanations:

Dear Ms Borja,

I read about a recent defamation complaint of Mr Jose Socrates against
Mr António Balbino Caldeira in relation to allegations of anomalies
about some kind of licentiate of Mr Jose Socrates. As a citizen and a
blogger I am concerned about the human right on freedom of speech.

Therefore I have some questions to the Portuguese Presidency of the
Council of the EU:

1. What is the exact subject of the defamation charges?
2. What is the background of the allegations of anomalies of the
licentiate of Mr Jose Socrates?
3. Are there planned any special activities by the portuguese presidency
of the council of the european union to enhance the situation of the
right on freedom of speech as declared in Article 10 of the European
Convention on Human Rights?

I’m looking forward to your answers and will publish them on Mein
Parteibuch to share these answers with the public.

Sincerely yours,

Marcel Bartels
Mein Parteibuch

There was no response from Ms Borja. So here is a response from a cat to Mr. Sócrates. Let’s congratulate Mr. Sócrates for his good job. Prosecuting a blogger for defamation is really a very good way to become very popular in the blogsphere. And of course it’s a very, very clever way to become every bloggers darling. So let’s thank Mr Sócrates for unifying bloggers all over Europe. Let’s appreciate his courage to do this without any fear to make himself uncomparably ridiculous.

Petition for Ron Paul’s right to free speech and a fair electoral process

by @ 5:05 pm. filed under USA, Politics, Censorship

The race for American Presidency just now came into a hot phase. The PNAC people have set up their warhead puppets in the front rows of both parties. The only dissenting candidates of the Democratic party, Dennis Kucinich and Mike Gravel seem to be already chanceless. So there is no chance to get freedom and peace for the USA and the rest of the world, because all candidates in the presidential race are with the war criminals of the PNAC. All candidates? There is one exception: the Republican candidate Ron Paul.

Now, that the PNAC people realized, that there is still a popular candidate dissenting the American way from freedom to fascism and it is not possible to bully him out of the presidential race, they decided to let the media forbid to take him participate in presidential debates and kick him out of his Republican party. Whoever loves freedom and free speach and dislike media bullying and censorship of Ron Paul, sign the petition

German censorship in the name of a former GDR polit officer

by @ 10:55 am. filed under Berlin wall, killing, GDR, Police, Censorship, Germany

The press chamber of the German court “Landgericht Berlin” presided by jugde Michael Mauck has in several sentences forbidden the German author Roman Grafe and several major German newspapers to publish the name of a polit officer serving in German Democratic Republics border troops. A polit officer’s responsibility at the border troops was giving soldiers political instruction and propaganda in favour of soviet style communism.

Copyright and Censorship

by @ 4:30 am. filed under Copyright, Censorship, Freedom of Speech

No CopyrightMany bloggers put their contents under a restictive license. This article will show, why it is a good idea to remove copyright protection from blog contents to make censorship attacks unattractive for the censors.

In the western hemisphere open censorship is for reasons of national constitutions and problems with article 19 of the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights somehow problematic. So governments and courts following government orders invent new ideas to get information out of the internet and out of the world. Some, like the British government did it with David Shayler or like US judge T.S. Ellis did it with Khaled El-Masri, try it’s best to classify all information on government misconduct as state secrets.

Website rotglut.org vanished

by @ 1:21 pm. filed under Criminality, Censorship, Germany

German blogger Fastix was last week imprisoned on his way fighting for his website rotglut.org. His site was a unique pool of information about some German lawyers and their customers. Many honest German humans highly value the publicly available results of Fastix investigations on these lawyers and their customers.

My honest believe as a cat is, that the facts published on rotglut.org were valuable background information in criminal proceedings against one of these German lawyers and will play an important role in criminal proceedings against another German lawyer.

Now the website rotglut.org has gone. As Fastix is imprisoned, it is not clear, whether he was able to save a backup of his site. Congratulations to the German lawyers, which probably managed to shut this site down. Jurisdical harassment with cease and desist letters does a perfect job of censorship in Germany. The victims go to jail and criminal jurists open a bottle on that.

But beware of the cats! Fastix rotglut.org pages are still available in Google and can be catched from cache world wide. Maybe a cat will download the contents from rotglut.org from Google cache, so that this unique documentation on unfair practices of these lawyers and their clients won’t get lost?
